Canterbury track report

SHAKOPEE, Minn. - The Minnesota Thoroughbred Association's yearling and paddock sale will be held Saturday following the races. A total of 65 yearlings, horses of racing age, and broodmares make up the main catalog, and an additional 15 horses have been supplemented to the sale. The 1992 Kentucky Oaks winner, Luv Me Luv Me Not, was sold at the Canterbury paddock sale in 1990.

* Several Minnesota-bred runners prepped for the upcoming Festival of Champions in allowance races last weekend. Blumin Bauble returned from a poor effort in the Princess Elaine to win an allowance race Sunday.

* Track records continue to fall during this meeting, with the racing surface yielding much faster times than in any previous meet since the track re-opened in 1995. On Saturday, Minnesota-bred J. P. Jet equaled a 17-year-old course record for a mile and 70 yards that was set by Canterbury Park Hall of Famer Come Summer. On Sunday, One Rare Bug set a course mark for 400 yards when he captured the $52,000 Grade 3 Bayer Legend Central Challenge in 19.706 seconds.
