Canterbury cancels due to excessive heat
Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minn., has canceled the race card scheduled for tonight due to higher than forecasted temperatures, the track said just hours before first post.
Canterbury had already pushed the first post for the eight-race card from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. because of an excessive heat forecast, but conditions worsened in the afternoon. The track said in a release that the new forecasts "could make racing dangerous to both horses and people that work outdoors.”

“Predicting the weather is not an exact science and based on what we see now the best course of action is to cancel tonight’s racing,” said Chris Merz, the track’s director of racing.
Canterbury is still planning on racing on Thursday night, with a 5 p.m. first post.
