Cannizzo takes seat on NYRA board

Matt Hegarty|Mar 01, 2016

Jeffrey Cannizzo will replace Chester Broman in a non-voting seat reserved for the New York Thoroughbred Breeders on the board of the New York Racing Association, Cannizzo confirmed on Tuesday.

Cannizzo has been the executive director of the New York Thoroughbred Breeders Inc. since 2008.

Broman, an owner-breeder who has held positions on the NYRA board since 1998, has filled the NYTB’s seat since the board was reorganized in 2012. Cannizzo said that Broman decided to step down because it had “become time for a transition.”

The NYRA board, which has 14 voting members and two ex-officio members, is scheduled to meet next week. A previously scheduled board meeting for Feb. 24 was canceled.
