Candy Ride holds at 9-5

Candy Ride remained a heavy favorite in the Classic during the second day of wagering on Period 2 of the . As of late Saturday afternoon, with almost $24,000 in the pool, Candy Ride was at 9-5. Betting opened Friday at 1 p.m. Eastern and continues until Monday at 9 p.m.

The second choice after Candy Ride, who would have to be supplemented to the Classic for $800,000, was Empire Maker at 7-1, followed by Ten Most Wanted (10-1), and Congaree, Medaglia d'Oro, and Mineshaft, all at 13-1. The field - all horses other than the 23 listed - was at 25-1.

In the three other Breeders' Cup races being offered:

* Azeri, 8-1 on Friday, had dropped to 2-1 favoritism in the Distaff. Early favorite Sightseek was at 7-2, followed by Got Koko (13-1), You (14-1), and Wild Spirit (18-1). The field was at 12-1.

* Ghostzapper, 20-1 on the morning line, was a surprise favorite in the Sprint at 6-1. Captain Squire was at 7-1 and Beau's Town and the field were both at 9-1. Aldebaran, scheduled to run in Sunday's Forego at Saratoga, was at 11-1.

* Storming Home, the disqualified winner of the Arlington Million, was favored at 3-1 in the Turf over a host of Europeans. Sulamani, put up to first in the Million, and Nayef were next at 6-1 and 7-1. Last year's Turf winner, High Chapparal, was holding at 9-1 and Paolini was at 11-1. The field was at 16-1.
