Ron Gierkink|Sep 08, 2008

Who's Big Daddy, a $60,000 colt by Where's the Ring, headed the preferred session of the annual Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society's yearling auction at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion on Saturday.

Scott Fairlie purchased the sale topper from Gardiner Farm Limited, agent. Who's Big Daddy is a full brother to stakes winner Cawaja Beach, who is trained by Fairlie.

Bill Farish bought the second-highest-priced yearling, a $55,000 colt by Bold Executive, who was consigned by Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency, as agent.

A total of 153 yearlings grossed $1,309,200 at the session. The average of $8,557 was 3.6 percent higher than last year, when 151 yearlings brought $1,247,000 for an average of $8,258. Seventy yearlings were listed as not sold, compared with 37 last year.
