Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society mixed sale led by mare in foal to Philanthropist

ETOBICOKE, Ontario — Love Torch, an $18,000 mare by El Prado, headed the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society’s annual winter mixed sale at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion on Saturday.

Frank DiGiulio Jr. purchased Love Torch, who is in foal to Philanthropist. The unraced 6-year-old, who is carrying her fourth foal, was sold by Paradox Farm, as agent.

Paradox Farm sold the top-priced weanling, a $9,500 colt by Where’s the Ring. Valiant Ranches Ltd. bought the half-brother to multiple stakes winner Midnight Shadow.

The 71 horses who sold grossed$193,600, for an average of $2,727. A total of 21 horses were listed as not sold.
