Can the Man, Dance With Fate sharpen for stakes

The 3-year-old stakes winners Can the Man and Dance With Fate recorded fast workouts on Saturday in advance of expected appearances in stakes on July 5.
Can the Man, who won the Grade 3 Affirmed Stakes at Santa Anita on June 7, worked five furlongs in 58.80 seconds, the fastest of 49 works at the distance. Trainer Bob Baffert said the $500,000 Los Alamitos Derby over 1 1/8 miles on July 5 is a goal for Can the Man, who races for Kaleem Shah.
Dance With Fate, the winner of the Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland in April, worked six furlongs in 1:11, the fastest of 11 works at the distance. Trainer Peter Eurton said that Dance with Fate remains on course for the $1.25 million Belmont Derby over 1 1/4 miles on turf at Belmont Park on July 5.
Dance With Fate finished sixth in the Kentucky Derby on May 2. The colt races for Sharon Alesia, Bran Jam Stable and Ciaglia Racing.
Fury Kapcori, the winner of the Grade 3 Precisionist Stakes for older horses on May 3, worked six furlongs in 1:12.60 on Saturday. Fury Kapcori is a candidate for the $500,000 Gold Cup at Santa Anita next Saturday. Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, Fury Kapcori was second to Gold Cup hopeful Clubhouse Ride in the Grade 2 Californian Stakes on May 31.
The Gold Cup was previously run as the Hollywood Gold Cup at Hollywood Park, which closed last December. The race is expected to be led by Game On Dude, who won the 2012 and 2013 Hollywood Gold Cups. Other probable starters are Imperative, Lideris, Majestic Harbor, and Salto Del Indio.
