Can 'Castle' remain perfect?

Bill Hodtwalker|Nov 22, 2001

ANDERSON, Ind. - Cashel Castle and Handsome Hunk, both of whom have won their last two races, head a field of six entered for Saturday's $100,000-added Hoosier Juvenile at Hoosier Park.

Handsome Hunk, trained by Dale Romans for the Jacks or Better Farm, is coming off a victory in the Oct. 18 Fort Springs Stakes at Keeneland. He led throughout that day to defeat a field of only three other rivals. Before that he drew off for a two-length win against nonwinners-of-two allowance company, also at Keeneland. Justin Vitek will ride from post 4.

Cashel Castle invades from Illinois for trainer Chris Block. Undefeated in two career outings, Cashel Castle won his maiden at Arlington in October. He returned at Hawthorne on Nov. 2 to post an impressive 6 3/4-length win against one-other-than allowance company. Eusebio Razo Jr. will come in to ride from post 1.

Trainer Dallas Stewart will send out Magic Bid with Jose Martinez Jr. in the irons. Owned by Richwood Farm Racing Stable, Magic Bid captured a one-other-than allowance at Churchill Downs two weeks ago for his second career victory in five starts. A son of Clever Trick, Magic Bid appears to have the ability to force or lay just off the pace and is well spotted to pull a minor surprise in the six-furlong Juvenile. Magic Bid drew post 3.

Just Le Facts ships in from The Meadowlands for trainer Dennis Manning. A son of Lac Ouimet, Just Le Facts won his first two career outings before coming up two lengths short in the Storm Cat Stakes going a mile and 70 yards. Leading rider Terry Thompson has the mount from post 2.

Robin Zee, a maiden winner here in early October, returns off non-threatening sixth to Magic Bid at Churchill. Trainer Stanley Roberts has named Bobby Walker Jr. to ride from post 6.

Speed Hunter rounds out the field for trainer Elliott Walden. A son of Alydeed, Speed Hunter won his maiden at first asking this summer at Saratoga and was most recently second against nonwinners-of-two-lifetime allowance company at Keeneland. James Lopez has the ride from post 5.
