Call Paul easily handles statebreds in Pennsylvania Nursery

Call Paul delivered at 1-5 on Saturday, when he cruised to a five-length win over Jump For Alex in the $100,000 Pennsylvania Nursery at Parx Racing. It was another neck back in third to Splicethemainbrace.
The Nursery was restricted to 2-year-old colts and geldings bred in Pennsylvania.
Call Paul brought substantial credentials into the Nursery. He won the Grade 2 Saratoga Special in August at Saratoga, and subsequently ran third in the Grade 1 Champagne at Belmont Park and the Grade 3 Nashua at Aqueduct.
Call Paul ($2.40) on Saturday broke with the field and pressed the pace while racing four wide down the backside through an opening quarter in 22.52 seconds. He proceeded three wide through a half-mile in 46.29, then moved to the lead in the stretch and went on to cover seven furlongs on a fast track in 1:25.73.
Trevor McCarthy was aboard for trainer Jason Servis.
Call Paul is a son of Friesan Fire who races for the partnership of Michael Dubb, David Simon, Bethlehem Stables and Bruce Irom. He has now won 3 of 5 starts. The $60,000 first-place check for the Nursery pushed Call Paul’s earnings to $279,500.
