California Thoroughbred Breeders Association moves back Northern California sale

Steve Andersen|Jul 01, 2022

The California Thoroughbred Breeders Association has changed the date of its annual Northern California yearling and horses of racing age sale from Aug. 9 to Aug. 17, the organization announced on Thursday.

The sale will be held on the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. CTBA general manager Doug Burge said in a text message that the sale date was moved to accommodate the stabling of horses.

The 2021 sale saw 92 horses sell for an average of $9,977, a considerable increase from the 2020 sale average of $7,217. The CTBA said last summer that the 2021 average was the highest since 2015.
