California stallion Acclamation gets first winner

DEL MAR, Calif. – The 2-year-old colt Accountability won a maiden special weight race for California-breds at Del Mar on Friday, the first winner for the stallion Acclamation.

Acclamation, who stands at Old English Rancho in Sanger, Calif., was the champion older male of 2011.

Accountability ($16.20) ran 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:05.48, disputing the pace before winning by a half-length. Friday’s race was the second start for Accountability, who races for Craig Martin and Paul Newhart and is trained by Rafael Becerra. The colt was purchased by Newhart for $25,000 at the 2015 Barretts select yearling sale.
