California grants joint fair meeting

The California Horse Racing Board on Thursday approved a request by the Solano and Sonoma fairs to run a joint meet, and approved applications for the upcoming spring meets at Golden Gate Fields and Hollywood Park.

The meet, which will be called the Sonoma Solano Wine Country Fair meet, will run for one week, July 11 to 15, at the Solano site in Vallejo and three weeks, from July 18 to Aug. 6, at the Sonoma site in Santa Rosa.

The board also approved the Pacific Racing Association's April 25-June 10 meet at Golden Gate Fields, allowing the addition of Wednesday, May 30, to the calendar. Hollywood Park will run April 25 to July 15 and received approval to run on Tuesday, May 1.
