California Chrome is based at Taylor Made Farm in Kentucky, and is currently standing the Southern Hemisphere breeding season at Haras Sumaya in Chile. His first Northern Hemisphere book included graded winners and producers including Champagne Royale, the dam of Grade 1 winners Danza and Majestic Harbor. The most active first-year stallion of 2017 was graded stakes winner Speightster, who covered 174 mares. Grade 1 winner Outwork was second with 168 mares covered. They both stand at WinStar Farm. Australian champion juvenile Vancouver (Coolmore’s Ashford Stud) covered 166 mares in his first Northern Hemisphere season after beginning his stud career on his native continent.
