Caldwell leads owner standings after meet's first two weeks

Danny Caldwell, who has won four of the last five owner titles at Oaklawn, led the Oaklawn standings after the first two weeks of racing. He has 40 horses in training at Oaklawn.
“Hopefully we place them in the right spots,” Caldwell said. “We’re going to try to win some races, make a little money. It seems like it’s getting tougher and tougher every year at Oaklawn.”
Caldwell was the fourth-leading owner in wins in North America in 2018, with 121 from 573 starts. His stable earned $2.2 million. Caldwell is a perennial leading owner at his home track of Remington Park and a staple at Prairie Meadows.
Aside from the horses he has at Oaklawn with longtime trainer Federico Villafranco, Caldwell has Lynah Rink with trainer Steve Asmussen for turf sprint opportunities at Fair Grounds and Sam Houston. Lynah Rink won four straight races at Remington.
“I’ve got all but one horse at Oaklawn,” Caldwell said. “We’re concentrating on Oaklawn.”
Caldwell had won with four of 17 starters through Thursday at Oaklawn.
