Calder prep a success for Indiano

MIAMI - Indiano ($2.60) overcame an eventful beginning and a less-than-clean trip, asserting his class to post a 2 1/4-length victory over the inexperienced but promising Atlantic Bull in Monday’s $50,500 Eillo Stakes at Calder.

Indiano stumbled leaving the gate and lacked racing room around the final turn under jockey Luis Saez before angling inside pacesetter Atlantic Bull and edging well clear through the final sixteenth of the 6 1/2-furlong Eillo.

Atlantic Bull, who jumped right into stakes company after winning his career debut less than three weeks earlier, outlasted Bull Dozer by a neck to finish second.

Indiano, trained by Marty Wolfson, is expected to make his next start in Parx Racing’s $250,000 Gallant Bob on Sept. 24.
