Cal Expo: $12,851 Pick 5 carryover Friday

There is a $12,851 carryover going into Friday night's 20-cent early Pick 5 at Cal Expo with a $75,000-guaranteed gross pool

The early Pick 5 will be conducted on races 1 through 5, and along with the 20-cent late Pick 5 and 20-cent Pick 4 features a reduced 16 percent takeout rate every night. The Pick 4 also has a $30,000-guaranteed gross pool on Fridays and a $25,000 guarantee on Sundays.

Friday's Pick 5 sequence provides an intriguing obstacle for handicappers in the third leg with the Double Down Invite. The $6,000 race features three pacers on the inside of the gate and four trotters on the outside. Interestingly, trotter Major Al Mar has been installed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite from post 6.

Post time for the first race is 9:45 P.M. on the east coast and 6:45 PM local time in California.
