ETOBICOKE, Ontario – King’s Plate winner Caitlinhergrtness will bypass the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, the $400,000 Prince of Wales Stakes at Fort Erie, according to trainer Kevin Attard, who cited the tight schedule that she’s been on.  Caitlinhergrtness finished second in the Woodbine Oaks on July 20, two weeks after she notched an allowance on the inner turf in her first start after being sent to Attard. The King’s Plate was pushed back from Aug. 17 to Aug. 23 due to inclement weather, and the Prince of Wales goes Sept. 10.  “She’s had three races in the span of seven weeks,” Attard said. “She’s doing well. She came out of the [Plate] in good order, but it might be a little too taxing to run her back in 17 days. We’ll give her a little bit of time now to let her bounce back off this race. She seems to be an improving horse. That way, we can find out what we really have.” :: Bet with the Best! Get FREE All-Access PPs and Weekly Cashback when you wager on DRF Bets. Attard said there are several stakes possibilities for her at Keeneland in October. The final leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, the 1 1/2-mile Breeders’ Stakes on the grass here Sept. 29, is another possibility for the daughter of Omaha Beach.  Attard plans on running Airosa, Bedard, Pierre, and Jokestar in the Prince of Wales, which he has won three times. A 1 3/16-mile dirt route, it attracted 10 nominees, but not the Mark Casse-trained King’s Plate favorite and runner-up My Boy Prince. Casse nominated King’s Plate third-place finisher Midnight Mascot and Essex Serpent, who faded to 10th after setting a fast pace in the 1 1/4-mile King’s Plate. Among the others who are expected to contest in the 89th running of Prince of Wales are No More Options, Passioned, Vitality, and Wyoming Bill. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
