Bv Midnite Express wins first stakes in Heritage Place Quarter Horse Futurity
Bv Midnite Express became a stakes winner Saturday night, when he led from start to finish in Remington Park’s richest race, the Grade 1, $1.2 million Heritage Place Quarter Horse Futurity. Bv Midnite Express won by a half-length over A Tres of Paint, while it was another three-quarters of a length back in third to the 4-5 favorite Regard With Respect.
The Heritage Place anchored the richest card in the 28-year history of Remington. The program featured eight stakes races and was worth $2.3 million.
Bv Midnite Express ($16.20) broke on top and went on to cover 350 yards on a track rated fast in 17.19 seconds. Russel Hadley rode the winner for owner-breeder Bella Vista Farms and trainer Eddie Willis.
Bv Midnite Express earned $491,400 for the win, his third from four career starts. The horse’s other victories came in trial races at Remington. Bv Midnite Express is a son of Freighttrain B, and he was bred in Oklahoma.
In the Grade 3, $369,910 Heritage Place Quarter Horse Derby, Rpainted Wagon held off the fast-closing favorite Politicaly Correct for a neck win. It was another neck back in third to Bp Cartels Policy.
Rpainted Wagon ($19.40) covered 400 yards in 19.59 seconds. Jorge Linares rode the winner for Rosa Aguado and trainer Steve Salazar.
Dashin Brown Streak ($5) darted to a three-quarter length win over Pure D Spit in the Grade 1, $250,000 Remington Park Invitational Championship. It was a head back in third to Houdini, who finished a nose in front of the fourth-place finisher Jrc Callas First, the reigning world champion Quarter Horse who was making his second start of 2015.
Dashin Brown Streak covered 440 yards in 21.31 seconds. G.R. Carter Jr. rode the winner for the Estate of C.W. Navarre and Melvin Hatley and trainer John Brasseaux.
Remington will close out its meet with an afternoon card Sunday.
