Buy Land and See put his good speed to use at Parx Racing on Monday as he took over the lead midway on the second turn, then had plenty left in the tank to best odds-on favorite Nimitz Class in the Storm Cat for 3-year-olds and upward at a mile and 70 yards. The Storm Cat was one of seven $100,000 stakes on the card for Pennsylvania-bred or -sired performers. Saddled by Guadalupe Preciado, Buy Land and See broke quickly under jockey Mychel Sanchez, and took up residence just outside pacesetter Allevare through rated fractions of 23.62 and 48.45 seconds. Buy Land and See bid Allevare adieu entering the far turn, opened a clear lead after a six-furlong clocking of 1:13.84, then wasn’t seriously threatened in the stretch while racing off the inside. Nimitz Class, who pulled hard in between horses in the opening furlongs, dropped inside the winner turning for home, but finished 3 1/4 lengths behind in second. King Kumbalay was another half-length back in third. Then came Market Maven, Irish Cork, and Allevare. Far Mo Powerwas scratched. Buy Land and See raced the distance in 1:45.08 and returned $12.20 to win as the third choice in the wagering. :: Bet the races with a $250 First Deposit Match + $10 Free Bet and FREE Formulator PPs! He has won four of five starts since Preciado took over his training during the summer of 2022, and is a multiple stakes winner on both turf and dirt. John Servis wins 2,000th race Trainer John Servis notched his 2,000th lifetime victory after 2-year-old filly Dewey Doit ($11) captured her career debut in the opening race on the program. Servis, 64, is best known for preparing Smarty Jones to win the 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. Jostle, Round Pond, Jaywalk, and Cathryn Sophia are Servis’ other Grade 1 winners. Jaywalk was named Eclipse Award champion 2-year-old filly of 2018 after taking the Frizette and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. Servis trained his first winner at Keystone in 1984. His horses have earned over $69 million. Marshall Jenney Talented Man ($10.80) battled for early supremacy outside of Fore Harp, put that one away in upper stretch, then beat back the prolonged challenge of odds-on favorite Witty to take the Marshall Jenney for 3-year-olds and up at five furlongs on firm turf. A Hardesty Stables homebred owned and trained by Michael Moore, Talented Man and jockey Andy Hernandez raced the distance in 58.82 seconds and captured his first stakes trophy. He is a 4-year-old gelded son of Talent Search. Defending champion Smooth B competed in the Marshall Jenney for the fifth consecutive season. He saved ground in the pocket, was hopelessly blocked behind the leaders in upper stretch, then got clear sailing belatedly to run on for third. In other stakes action: * It was a big afternoon for Moore and Hernandez as Twisted Ride ($5.60) showed off his speed and determination to take the Banjo Picker Sprint at six furlongs. A 4-year-old gelding by Great Notion, Twisted Ride sat a nice trip prompting 17-1 longshot Magicnthemoonlight under a very confident Hernandez, made the lead at will on the turn, then denied Beren’s strong stretch bid to take it by a half-length in 1:12.90 seconds.  :: Get Daily Racing Form Past Performances – the exclusive home of Beyer Speed Figures Bred by Kasey K Racing Stable, he is owned by Kasey K in partnership with Michael Day and Final Turn Racing Stable. Twisted Ride has won 8 of 17 lifetime starts for earnings of $448,128. The Banjo Picker Sprint was his fourth stakes win. * It didn’t take long for Servis to reach win number 2,001 as his two juvenile fillies, Jody’s Ruby ($7.80) and favored Sirani, completed the exacta in the Miss Blue Tye Dye at 5 1/2 furlongs. Jody’s Ruby, a homebred daughter of Talent Search owned by Gilman Hallenbeck, settled just off the quick pace set by One Eyed Jackie and first-time starter Sirani, seemed outpaced while three wide on the turn, then resolutely re-rallied nearer the inside under Abner Adorno to prevail by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:09.56 seconds. Servis told Daily Racing Form earlier this week that he had noticed Jody’s Ruby had gained some maturity since her third-place finish in a Penn-bred maiden special at Parx on July 17, her second lifetime start. Jody’s Ruby has the pedigree to succeed sprinting as her full brother, multiple stakes-placed Uncle Ernie, finished third in the Banjo Picker. * Mia Tosca ($26.40) took advantage of a hot pace and a good inside-out stalker’s trip to grind down the leaders in the Dr. Teresa Garofalo Memorial for fillies and mares at six furlongs. Ridden by Paco Lopez for trainer Kate DeMasi, Mia Tosca completed the distance in 1:13.71 seconds to earn her first stakes victory.  Mia Tosca is a daughter of Animal Kingdom. Her second dam, Silvester Lady captured the Group 1 German Oaks. Mia Tosca has won 4 of 13 races for earnings of $200,228. * Poker Partner, the betting favorite in the Whistle Pig for 2-year-olds at 5 1/2 furlongs, had a terrible trip as he stumbled to his nose at the start, then checked in between horses when racing greenly in the opening furlongs. He finished last, but stablemate Gamboling Ghost ($19.20) saved trainer Jason DaCosta’s bacon, rallying from off the pace to take down first-time starter Chilling Hassle by three lengths in 1:07.62 seconds. Ridden by Jairo Rendon, Gamboling Ghost made his dirt debut in the Whistle Pig after two prior outings on the synthetic track at Presque Isle Downs. Beaten five lengths by Poker Partner when both debuted on July 18, Gamboling Ghost graduated 22 days later against Penn-bred maiden special weight competition. Gamboling Ghost and Poker Partner were the only prior winners in the Whistle Pig. :: Bet with the Best! Get Free DRF PPs and Cashback when you wager. Join DRF Bets. Bred by Cynthia Bartkowski and Scott Bunker, Gamboling Ghost was purchased by DaCosta for $9,500 as a yearling. He races for Calypso Stable. * In a similar situation to the Whistle Pig, the longer-priced half of an uncoupled entry got the money. While heavy favorite Morning Matcha showed no speed and virtually no interest, trainer Butch Reid’s progressive 3-year-old Neecie Marie ($6.60) made a strong four-wide bid on the second turn for Adorno, then sustained her rally to the wire in the Mrs. Penny for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on turf. The Mrs. Penny was Neecie Marie’s first run in a stakes, but the daughter of Cross Traffic has now won four of her last five starts. Bred by Jon Marshall, she was purchased for $25,000 as a yearling by Milam Racing Stable. She covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:46 1/5 seconds and was followed home by In a Spin and Eight Danzas. Neecie Marie is out of a half-sister to Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike and Grade 2-winning turf miler Llanarmon. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
