Buy-backs heavy at Barretts sale

A Swiss Yodeler filly purchased for $140,000 topped the early hours of Tuesday's California October yearling sale at Barretts, a sale marked by a high number of buy-backs.

The filly, a California-bred, was purchased by Bill Peeples of Santa Barbara, Calif., from the consignment of B.C. 3 Thoroughbreds, agent for Early Equine. Swiss Yodeler was California's leading sire by progeny earnings in 2006.

The filly's dam, Yes We Do, was stakes placed at Golden Gate Fields.

Of the first 73 horses through the ring, 35 were listed as not sold, 32 were sold, and 6 were withdrawn.
