Busha' wires Ohio Freshman

Busha' led from start to finish under jockey Perry Ouzts to win the $55,000 Ohio Freshman at Beulah Park.

Sent off as the 1-2 favorite in the short field of six Ohio-accredited 2-year-olds, Busha' bobbled at the start, but the veteran Ouzts kept him together and got him to the front while racing just off the rail. A Mercer Mill gelding trained by Mike Rone, Busha' had a clear lead until midstretch, where he was challenged by second-place finisher King T C. Jockey Weldon Cloninger Jr. tried to get King T C by the winner, but Ouzts went to work on Busha' and drew clear once again, winning by four widening lengths. Drummond Isle settled for third after chasing the winner early, three lengths behind King T C.

Busha' returned $3 to win and ran the mile over a muddy track in 1.41.78.
