Busanda expands to nine horses when redrawn
When initially drawn last Wednesday for its scheduled running on Saturday, the $100,000 Busanda Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Aqueduct drew a field of six with two of those horses being late supplements. The race was postponed when Saturday’s card was canceled due to weather and safety concerns.
The Busanda was rescheduled for Friday, and nine were entered when the race was re-drawn on Sunday.
Among those who had not been initially entered were Overprepared, Been Here Before, and Stolen Victory.
Overprepared, a daughter of Quality Road trained by Todd Pletcher, last raced on Nov. 15, finishing third as the 2-5 favorite in the Smart Halo Stakes at Laurel. She drew the rail for Friday.
Been Here Before is a daughter of Tapit who won her maiden in her third start by six lengths on Dec. 26. She will be coupled with Bonnet Plume because both are owned by Sheikh Mohammed al-Maktoum’s Godolphin Racing. Stolen Victory, a 14 3/4-length maiden winner on New Year’s Day, was supplemented to the field.
Liberty Island and North Eight Street both were scratched from a Sunday first-level allowance race and were entered back in the Busanda. Diannestillworks, Hopefaithjoy, and Sweet On Smokey were all re-entered.
