Burn the Mortgage eyes The Vid

Burn the Mortgage, a 4 1/2-length winner of the Eight Miles East Stakes last Saturday, will remain at Gulfstream and probably run next in the $75,000 The Vid on Sept. 13, said owner-trainer Mike Maker.
Edgard Zayas gave Burn the Mortgage a trouble-free ride in the Eight Miles East, which was the only one of four scheduled turf races to remain on the course Saturday after heavy rain forced the others to the main track.
“The horse was trying to lug in a little bit all the way, but I was trying to stay out of trouble,” said Zayas.
Maker, whose best horses currently are stabled at Saratoga, said he has six horses at Gulfstream but intends to increase that number while maintaining a year-round presence.
Maker’s main clients, Ken and Sarah Ramsey, bred and originally owned Burn the Mortgage, but Maker claimed back the horse on his own last November after the Ramseys lost him by claim in February 2013.
Burn the Mortgage is a 5-year-old horse by Kitten’s Joy.
Csaba to Saratoga
Csaba, another Ramsey-bred 5-year-old by Kitten’s Joy, has been confirmed for a trip to Saratoga, trainer Phil Gleaves said this week from Gulfstream. Csaba will run in the $100,000 Alydar Stakes on Aug. 17 at the upstate New York track.
Csaba, an earner of more than $660,000 from 32 career starts, most recently won the July 19 Skip Trial Stakes at Gulfstream by 1 3/4 lengths.
“We’re planning to ship him and a New York-bred 2-year-old out of here on Aug. 5,” said Gleaves. “It’s always nice to be able to have something good enough to run up there.”
Gleaves won the biggest race of his career at Saratoga when Wise Times won the 1986 Travers.
