There were a couple of big headlines that came out in the two $58,000 (approx.) New York Sire Stakes for the 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters on the Wednesday (June 24) program at Buffalo Raceway, as a track record was absolutely demolished while a driver hit a career milestone in collecting a victory.

Read The Room 'read the room' perfectly in the first division of the sophomore male trotters as he buried the field by 9 1/2 lengths with a 1:55 trip over the Buffalo Raceway half-mile oval. The time erased the all-time colt trotting record and the 3-year-old colt trotting mark set on June 7, 2018, as Purpose Blue Chip covered the mile back then in 1:56 2/5.

The highlights didn't end there, as in the second division for the gentlemen, driver Jeff Gregory, who is originally from nearby Churchville, N.Y., notched his 7,000th career victory as he sent Highway Six ($6.42) to a 1:56 4/5 win over Twin N Seven Sins.

There were a pair of $58,000 events for the 3-year-old fillies, and there were no surprises. Who Dares Wins (Ake Svanstedt) went gate-to-wire and pinned a half-length setback on Sharp Seven in 1:56 3/5, while in the other bracket, Lauren's Chapter (Niko Karna) went from last to first and swooped the group in 1:58 1/5, beating Overalls (Jason Bartlett) by 3-1/2 lengths.

The talk at the track was the performance put in by Read The Room. Starting from the two post in the field of four, Read The Room went immediately to the lead and collected fractions of 29 1/5, 58 and 1:26 4/5. After hitting three-quarters, Read The Room had a 5 1/4 length advantage and just kept going in high gear to post the record time of 1:55. A 57 1/5 back half-mile and a 28 1/5 final panel had the others waving the surrender flags. Chapter Geo J (Jason Bartlett) was second and Lou John's Action (Gregory) finished in third.

Co-owned by trainer Svanstedt, Little E LLC., Nassrom Holdings Inc. and Nils Munkhaugen, it was the second victory in five starts in 2026 for Read The Room (Chapter Seven-Debra Hall). The win moved his seasonal earnings to $77,421 and to $162,520 lifetime.

Gregory reached his big milestone as he guided Highway Six to a convincing half-length score over Twin N Seven Seas, while Seven Grand (Svanstedt) took the show spot.

Sitting fifth and last as Titans Mischief set the fractions, Highway Six began his first-over trip around the clubhouse turn the second time and got into contention in the stretch drive. Rolling on the far outside in the lane, Highway Six had Twin B Seven Seas perfectly measured and collected the half-length decision.

Co-owned by trainer Gregory and Jesmeral Stables, it was the second win in four outings for Highway Six (Met's Hall-Highway Cash). The triumph jumped his seasonal bankroll to $52,735 and to $79,535 in his career.

The first filly flight was billed as a showdown between Sharp Seven and Storybook Love, the defending 2-year-old NYSS champion and the Breeders Crown titleist, respectively, but Who Dares Wins was daring enough to ruin that party.

Svanstedt made it a NYSS double as he sent Who Dares Wins ($4.74) to a head victory over Sharp Seven and Storybook Love in 1:56 3/5. Using fractions of 30, 59 and 1:28 1/5, Who Dares Wins just couldn't be caught as Sharp Seven (Bartlett) and Storybook Love (Todd Ratchford) tried in vain to collar the stubborn winner down the lane.

Owned by Order By Stable AB and conditioned by Svanstedt, it was the second win of the campaign for Who Dares Wins (Chapter Seven-Inspired By Life). The decision moved her winnings to $49,161 on the year and to $57,061 lifetime.

The other race for the sophomore ladies saw Lauren's Chapter smoke the field down the backstretch the final time and eventually roll to a 3 1/2 length win over Overalls (Bartlett) and B Eyelash (Tyler Buter).

Laying back in fifth heading down the backstretch on the final circuit, Lauren's Chapter (Niko Karna) gobbled up plenty of real estate and had earned a 1 1/4 length advantage at the top of the lane. There were no issues in the home stretch as Lauren's Chapter cruised to the line with ease.

Owned by Patricia Stbl & Laexpress, Sjoblom Racing & M. Dolan, Allister Stables LLC. and Caviart Farms, Lauren's Chapter (Chapter Seven-A Hopeful Prayer) is trained by Noel Daley. The victory increased her 2026 bankroll to $71,934 and to $92,824 in her career.

There was plenty of action in the Excelsior Series program.

In the $20,000 brackets for the 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters, Rubens (1:57 3/5) was the fastest as Dan Daley collected the $11.54 win. DW's Cha-ching (1:59 3/5) took a $4.76 win for Matt Kakaley, while Self Portrait (2:01 3/5) found the winner's circle for Drew Monti and returned a hefty $30.48.

In the $20,000 Excelsior events for the 3-year-old fillies, Bar Hall Beauty (1:58 1/5) notched a popular $2.84 victory for Bartlett, while SC Thats My Wife (2:00 3/5) got the photo opportunity with driver Cory Stratton by collecting a $14.16 win.

Racing will return on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. (EDT) with 14 races slated.
