Buffalo: Live racing cancelled Wednesday due to temperature changes
Buffalo Raceway has cancelled racing on Wednesday, March 2. The track hasn't raced since February 16 when it cancelled after an accident occured in the second race and a no-contest was declared.
The following is a joint statement from Buffalo Raceway and Western New York Harness Horsemen’s Association:
Buffalo Raceway and Western New York Harness Horsemen's Association deeply regret the recent cancellations of live racing at Buffalo Raceway. For the last five weeks we have employed the services of one of the leading racetrack consultants in the country in an effort to conduct live racing. Hamburg, New York is located on the shores of Lake Erie where weather variances occur daily. We have been faced with four thaw to freeze occurrences that have changed temperatures by up to 50 degrees in a 48-hour period causing the racetrack to go from frozen to a melting condition. The horsemen's association and racetrack management are doing everything possible to alleviate this problem with the hopes of racing on Saturday, March 5.
