This Bud's for Turban

AUBURN, Wash. - Turban overcame a wide trip to run down a loose-on-the lead I'madrifter en route to a 1 1-4 length victory in Sunday's one mile, $75,000 Budweiser Emerald Handicap at Emerald Downs. Turban got the distance in 1:34.60 despite racing wide throughout under Gallyn Mitchell after breaking from the outside post in a field of eight.

Alfurune came from last place to get second by a neck over I'madrifter and Moonlight Meeting, who dead-heated for third.

It was the second straight stakes win for Turban, a 4-year-old son of Lord Avie who races for Turban Racing, an ownership group that includes trainer Jim Penney. Turban collected a winner's prize of $41,250 to boost his career earnings to $88,050 from four wins, a second and a third in six starts.
