Buddy Yip, former rider and clocker, dead at age 74

Alvin "Buddy" Yip, a longtime exercise rider who later worked as a clocker on the Northern California circuit from 1975 to 1992, died of a heart attack Tuesday in Concord, Calif., two days after his 74th birthday.

No services are planned for Yip, a native of San Francisco.
