Bucchero filly turns in bullet work for OBS June sale
A Florida-bred filly by promising in-state sire Bucchero threw down a blazing furlong to stand out on the final day of the under-tack preview show for next week's Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s June sale of 2-year-olds in training and horses of racing age.
The OBS Sale will begin Tuesday and run through Thursday.
The Bucchero filly worked a furlong in 9 3/5 seconds on the Ocala Training Center's all-weather Safetrack surface on Saturday, the last of six breeze show sessions. That work left her holding the bullet work for the sale, breaking a logjam of 17 juveniles tied at 9 4/5 seconds.

That group included another two juveniles by Bucchero, a multiple graded stakes-winning turf sprinter who stands at Pleasant Acres Stallions in Florida. Bucchero was third on Florida’s 2022 freshman sire earnings list behind breakout success Girvin, who has since moved to Kentucky, and Awesome Slew. He equaled Awesome Slew with 11 individual winners each.
The bullet-working filly, who is consigned by Britton Peak, as agent, is named Etrurian. She is out of the stakes-placed Imperialism mare Imperial Strike, the dam of one winner from three starters.
Among the juveniles who breezed a quarter-mile, Esperon, a colt by Florida sire Chitu, worked in 20 1/5 seconds to hold the bullet.
The Florida-bred colt, consigned by Silvestre Chavez Thoroughbreds, as agent, is out of the stakes-placed Songaprayer mare Satan's Mistress. She is the dam of three winners from as many starters.
