Bryn's Fancy Pants stands out in Salazar Stakes

Bryn’s Fancy Pants will be seeking to nail down the fifth stakes win of her career Saturday night in the $70,000 Carlos Salazar at the Downs at Albuquerque.
The Salazar is a 6 1/2-furlong race for fillies and mares bred in New Mexico. A field of eight is set to start, including fellow stakes winners Explosive Spy, Waltzing Attila, and Woodacouldadid.
None is as accomplished as Bryn’s Fancy Pants, who leads the field in earnings with more than $300,000. She’s built her bankroll racking up stakes wins at various tracks in New Mexico. Bryn’s Fancy Pants exits the $50,000 Lincoln Handicap on July 29 at Ruidoso, a New Mexico-bred race in which she closed for second to Explosive Spy.
For the rematch, Bryn’s Fancy Pants will break from the rail. Roimes Chirinos has the mount for trainer Todd Fincher.
Explosive Spy, who drew post 7 for Saturday, won by two lengths in the Lincoln Handicap. The win in the six-furlong race was her second stakes score in her last three starts. Back in April, she captured the $40,000 Foutz Distaff at SunRay Park.
