Brown's Arlington shippers eye Belmont fall stakes

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Trainer Chad Brown’s contingent of horses who shipped to Chicago for last Saturday’s Arlington Million card were back in New York by Sunday night, and the majority of them will be pointed to stakes races at the Belmont fall meet.
Sea Calisi, who won the Grade 1 Beverly D., likely will target the Grade 1, $500,000 Flower Bowl Invitational on Oct. 8 as a prep for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf.
Brown also could run Dacita, the winner of the Grade 1 Diana, in the Flower Bowl, though he is also considering the Grade 1 Rodeo Drive at Santa Anita, where Dacita would virtually be guaranteed to find firm turf.
Brown credited the job that pacemaker Elusive Million did in setting things up for Sea Calisi.
“Sea Calisi had a challenging post; she needed a good setup, and also it was a touch shorter than Sea Calisi wants to run,” Brown said.
Beach Patrol, who won the Grade 1 Secretariat by a head over Long Island Sound, will be pointed to the Grade 2, $500,000 Hill Prince at Belmont on Oct. 8. After a disappointing sixth in the Penn Mile just days after Brown received the horse, Beach Patrol has run a solid third in the Belmont Derby and won the Secretariat.
“Once we had him a little while, got over the shipping and got him into our program, he’s run two huge races,” Brown said. “Watching the replay, he clearly ran the best race in the Belmont Derby.”
Noble Beauty, who got put up to first in the Grade 3 Pucker Up via the disqualification of Try Your Luck, will target the Grade 2, $500,000 Sands Point at Belmont on Sept. 17.
Wake Forest, who finished 10th in the Arlington Million, came out of the race in good order physically, Brown said. He will watch the horse train before deciding where to run him next.
