Brown thinking open company with New York-bred stakes winners

ELMONT, N.Y. – Trainer Chad Brown may send at least two of his three stakes winners from Monday’s Big Apple Showcase Day program against open company.
Kathryn the Wise ran her record to 3 for 3 with an 8 1/4-length victory in the $200,000 Critical Eye. A 4-year-old daughter of Uncle Mo, Kathryn the Wise has won her first three starts by a combined 25 3/4 lengths.
Meanwhile, Fourstar Crook won her seventh consecutive race, taking the $125,000 Mount Vernon by three-quarters of a length over stablemate Act Naughty.
Brown said Kathryn the Wise and Fourstar Crook “could be headed to some open-company races.”
Fourstar Crook could be a candidate for the $100,000 Perfect Sting on July 1.
The Brown-trained Offering Plan, who won the $125,000 Kingston on Monday, is a two-time open-company winner and could be considered for the $150,000 Forbidden Apple on July 15.
◗ T Loves a Fight, winner of the Mike Lee on Monday, could try turf in the $100,000 Spectacular Bid division of the New York Stallion Stakes on June 25, trainer Mike Hushion said.
Hushion said there is no good dirt option at Belmont for the New York-bred gelding by Girolamo, and the seven-furlong distance of the Spectacular Bid would be ideal. Hushion said he also could attempt to stretch T Loves a Fight out to 1 1/16 miles in the New York Derby at Finger Lakes on July 22.
◗ Holiday Disguise, winner of the Bouwerie Stakes on Monday, could try open company in the Grade 3, $150,000 Victory Ride Stakes at Belmont on July 8, trainer Linda Rice said.
