Brown sweep in Jenny Wiley believed to be a first

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Horses have been racing at Keeneland for more than 80 years, and no can seem to recall a trainer doing what Chad Brown did here Saturday.
Brown trainees filled the top three spots in the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley when Sistercharlie charged to victory over stablemates Fourstar Crook and Off Limits. There are no such comprehensive records, but it is believed to be the first occasion for such a sweep in a Grade 1 event at Keeneland.
“It’s a tribute to my staff, these incredible horses, and my clientele,” Brown said afterward. “I’m extremely grateful.”
It was a spectacular first half of a 16-day meet for Brown, who topped the trainer standings at the midway point with eight winners from 16 starters. His other prior winners include three in stakes, led by Good Magic in the April 7 Blue Grass, as well as Pacific Wind, who could be stakes-bound following an 8 1/4-length allowance romp on the Friday undercard.
Brown, the Eclipse Award winner for top trainer in 2016 and 2017, swept the top three spots last summer in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks with New Money Honey, Sistercharlie, and Uni.
