Brown pointing Raging Sea to Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Trainer Chad Brown has confirmed Raging Sea for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, the Nov. 4 race that will be just the third start for the Curlin filly.
“I left her there at Keeneland after the Alcibiades,” Brown said this week from New York. “We’ll train her along as if she’s going to run. I do want to see how she works before making a final decision.”
Off an August debut win at Saratoga, Raging Sea finished third in the Oct. 7 Alcibiades, beaten just a neck by the victorious Wonder Wheel prior to being disqualified to fourth for deep-stretch interference.

Meanwhile, Brown is loaded again for the 1 3/16-mile BC Filly and Mare Turf as he’ll try to extend his own record to five wins in the race. He’ll run In Italian, winner of the Grade 1 First Lady here last week, along with Rougir and Virginia Joy.
Dolce Zel will run in the Grade 3 Valley View here Oct. 28 after being withheld from the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup this Saturday in favor of stablemates McKulick and Gina Romantica.
Shantisara, winner of the QE II last year, is back on a steady breeze pattern at Saratoga after being off since April, “but I’m not sure what to do with her,” Brown said.
“She’s getting ready at what’s kind of a weird time of year for us with all the bigger turf races about to wind down,” he said.
◗ The Grade 2, $350,000 Raven Run (fillies) and the $250,000 Perryville (open), twin seven-furlong races for 3-year-olds, will highlight the Keeneland stakes schedule next weekend when they are run here next Saturday. The Grade 3, $300,000 Dowager for filly-mare turf marathoners rounds out the weekend with its 31st running next Sunday.
