Brown, Pletcher, Joseph winless on dirt at the meet

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – From the statistical oddity department: Trainers Chad Brown (0 for 17), Todd Pletcher (0 for 11), and Saffie Joseph Jr. (0 for 9) have yet to win a race on dirt through the first 11 days of the Saratoga meet. There have been 58 dirt races run.
Overall, Brown is in a tie for second at the meet with six wins, one behind Brad Cox. Brown and Joseph, who is 1 for 14 overall at meet, square off on the dirt in a Thursday allowance where Brown sends out Senza Parole and Joseph has the Grade 3 dirt winner Dazzling Move.
Brown also has plenty of ammunition in upcoming dirt stakes with Fully Subscribed in Friday’s Grade 2 Shuvee and Kentucky Oaks winner Always a Runner and allowance winner Directive in Saturday’s Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks. Joseph has Eunomia in Friday’s Shuvee.
Overall, Pletcher is 0 for 36, covering multiple tracks, on dirt since Classicist won an allowance race at Aqueduct on May 23. The next five races Pletcher has runners in are all scheduled for the turf, though Vibe is entered as a main-track-only entrant in Thursday’s fourth. Vibe is also entered in a dirt stakes at Colonial Downs on Saturday.
