Brown has trio for Long Island Stakes

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Unsurprisingly, trainer Chad Brown entered three horses for Saturday’s Grade 3, $400,000 Long Island Stakes, the final graded turf stakes of the year on the New York Racing Association circuit.
Brown, who has won 24 graded stakes for females on turf nationally this year, sends out the trio of Lady Paname, Pollara and Night of England in the Long Island, which had its purse doubled from a year ago and which drew 11 fillies and mares for the turf and three main-track-only entrants. The race is slated for 1 3/8 miles.
Lady Paname, a French-bred daughter of Soldier of Fortune, came off a 13-month layoff to win a first-level allowance by a nose at Belmont on Oct. 17. The Irish-bred Pollara, a Group 3 winner in France, finished sixth in the Grade 1 E.P. Taylor in her first start in North America. Night of England, a Group 1-placed runner in Germany, makes her first start in the U.S and first for Brown.
Lady Montdore, winner of the Grade 2 Glens Falls, heads the list of challengers to the Brown trio.
Also entered were Danceland, Gipoia, Golden Attitude, Pamina, Si Que Es Buena, Tricky Escape, and Violet Blue for the turf. Matty’s Magnum, Sexy Reasons, and Unbridledadventure are the MTOs.

Gronkowski tops Discovery
Belmont Stakes runner-up Gronkowski will try yet again to win his first stakes in North America when he heads a field of seven 3-year-olds entered in the Grade 3, $200,000 Discovery Stakes at 1 1/8 miles.
After the Belmont, Gronkowski finished eighth of 10 in the Travers and sixth of eight in the Jockey Club Gold Cup.
The Discovery offers class relief for Gronkowski, though the Todd Pletcher-trained Life’s a Parlay is an interesting runner coming in off a solid allowance win at Belmont in his first start off an 8 1/2-month layoff. Discovery entrants Life’s a Parlay, Bal Harbour, and Roaming Union were all main-track-only entrants in Friday’s $150,000 Gio Ponti Stakes, scheduled for 1 1/16 miles on the turf.
Also entered in the Discovery are Plainsman, a winner of two straight allowance races, Title Ready, and Bon Raison.
Disco Partner heads Aqueduct Turf Sprint Championship
Disco Partner, third in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint three weeks ago, heads a field of eight entered for Saturday’s $125,000 Aqueduct Turf Sprint Championship.
Disco Partner won the Belmont Turf Sprint before finishing 7 1/2 lengths behind winner Stormy Liberal and World of Trouble in the BC Turf Sprint.
Disco Partner will be joined by his stablemate White Flag, seventh as the favorite in last year’s Aqueduct Turf Sprint. Also entered were Axtell, Blind Ambition, Dubini, Fielder, Hembree, and Kitten’s Cat. Coal Front is entered for the main track only.
