Brown has three of the eight in De La Rose Stakes

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Trainer Chad Brown had four of the eight 3-year-old fillies entered for the turf in Friday’s $85,000 De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga, but he will go to post with three.
Brown said Friday that Blowout, who looked like the potential main speed in the De La Rose will scratch due to a temperature.
“She had a temperature, she’s not going to be able to run,” Brown said Thursday. “It’s frustrating. We’ve waited to get her started this year but hopefully she’ll see some action later in the meet.”

Brown still has a strong hand to play in the one-mile stakes.
Catch a Bid, a daughter of Real Solution, won a second-level allowance on the front end at Churchill Downs on June 14, but was able to get away with a soft pace. Still, Brown thought that was a solid enough effort off an eight-month layoff. Catch a Bid won the Risakverse Stakes going a mile here last summer.
“She had a good winter, grown up, and got a lot stronger, she should be set up for a good year,” Brown said. “Two turns are good for her. I think she’s lined up for a good race.”
Tyler Gaffalione, aboard for the allowance win at Churchill, is back aboard Friday from the rail.

Brown also has Noor Sahara and Viadera in the De La Rose, which shares billing with the Shine Again Stakes for female sprinters on the 10-race card.
Noor Sahara, an Irish-bred daughter of Lope de Vega, finished third in a second-level allowance race at Belmont going 1 1/8 miles on June 12. Brown said that race was Plan C as a stakes at Gulfstream got rained off the turf and one at Aqueduct was canceled when the spring meet was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We had to run her a distance I didn’t want to run her at,” Brown said. “I think she’s more of a miler, the distance will suit her. Second off a layoff I expect her to move forward.”
Irad Ortiz Jr. has the all from post 2.
Viadera, an English-bred daughter of Bated Breath, finished fourth, nine lengths behind Newspaperofrecord, in the Grade 3 Intercontinental going seven furlongs June 6. Brown is hoping second off the layoff will do the trick.
Passing Out, a 4-year-old daughter of Orb trained by Shug McGaughey, comes off a third to Rushing Fall in the Grade 3 Beaugay at Belmont. McGaughey likes the fact this race is around two turns, and Passing Out did win a one-mile allowance here last summer.
“She ran awful good here last year,” McGaughey said. “I think she’s better two turns than she is like at Belmont. I think that’s her worst place, and she ran pretty good in the Beaugay.”
Xenobia was successful on the pace winning the Grade 3 Athenia at Belmont last year for Jonathan Thomas. She finished fifth in the Grade 3 Beaugay in her seasonal debut.
Clara Peeters and Hogans Holiday complete the field on turf. Bridlewood Cat is entered to run only if the race is moved to the main track.
