Brown has pair to extend Belmont Oaks dominance
?q=100)
Chad Brown will seek a record-extending seventh victory in the Grade 1, $600,000 Belmont Oaks when he sends out Fitz Right and Just Aloof in the 1 1/8-mile turf stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Saratoga, which drew a field of 10.
Fitz Right, a daughter of Charlatan, is 3 for 3 this year including victories in the Memories of Silver Stakes at Aqueduct in April and the Grade 2 Wonder Again at Saratoga in June. Just Aloof has been narrowly beaten in both of her starts this year, finishing fourth in the Grade 2 Appalachian and Grade 3 Edgewood.
Their rivals include European invader Kensington Lane, winner of the Group 3 Coolmore Auguste Rodin Athasi Stakes at The Curragh on May 4. She finished fifth in the Irish 1,000 Guineas. Also in from Europe is Abashiri, a daughter of Frankel trained by Charlie Appleby. She finished third in the Irish 1,000 Guineas after running fifth in the English 1,000 Guineas, both at one mile.
Storm’s Wake, the Appalachian winner, and Imaginationthelady, the Edgewood winner, are both in this field, as are Time to Dream, Faithful Departed, Carmensita, and Ultimate Love.
