Brown has four for Beverly D.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – With a bottomless string of high-level female turf performers, trainer Chad Brown seems to have multiple entries in nearly every graded grass stakes for older fillies and mares East of the Mississippi. Indeed, he has pre-entered four in the Grade 1 Beverly D. on the Arlington Million card here Saturday.
This year, even with 2017 Eclipse Award finalist Beach Patrol out of action, Brown is three-handed for the Million itself. On Friday, he pre-entered Almanaar, Money Multiplier, and Robert Bruce for the Million, and on Monday, after working all those horses at Saratoga, he confirmed plans to run all three Saturday at Arlington.
Brown said his quartet of Beverly D. entrants – Sistercharlie (who will be favored after winning the Grade 1 Diana last out), Fourstar Crook, Inflexibility, and Thais – all remained intended runners. Brown also will saddle Analyze It as the favorite in the Grade 1 Secretariat.
Final entries for the three Grade 1’s were to be taken late Tuesday morning at Arlington. Also pre-entered in the Million are Catcho En Die; the European trio of Century Dream, Circus Couture, and Deauville; Arlington Handicap winner Divisidero (who also is being considered for the Fourstardave at Saratoga); Oscar Performance, who will vie for favoritism; Grade 1 Manhattan Stakes winner Spring Quality; and Twenty Four Seven, a major longshot.
Brown, who with Beach Patrol won his second Million last year, worked Almanaar and Robert Bruce in company over the Saratoga turf training track Monday. The pair, finishing heads-up as is nearly always the case with Brown workmates, was timed in 49 seconds, and Brown said he was pleased with the drill, which had to be pushed back because of recent rain at Saratoga. Joel Rosario rides Almanaar, with Irad Ortiz on Robert Bruce.
Money Multiplier and Analyze It had an in-company dirt work Monday at Saratoga; Money Multiplier was timed in 50.25, Analyze It was in 50 seconds.
No trainer has swept the Million, the Beverly D., and the Secretariat on the same card, but Brown, with very live entrants in all three races, has a real chance to become the first this weekend.
