Brown could run four horses in Grade 1 Manhattan

It was a good weekend for Brown’s long-distance male turf runners. Brown won the Grade 1 Old Forester Turf Classic with Bricks and Mortar and the Grade 3 Fort Marcy at Belmont with longshot Olympico.
Those two horses as well as Turf Classic fourth-place finisher Raging Bull and Fort Marcy fifth-place finisher Robert Bruce are all being pointed to the Grade 1, $1 million Manhattan on the Belmont Stakes undercard.
Bricks and Mortars is now 3 for 3 this year.
“He established himself as the leader of the division carrying top weight, difficult post and he was able to overcome it and get to the wire first again,” Brown said. “Really impressed with his performance on Saturday.”
Though the Manhattan will be Bricks and Mortar’s first try at 1 1/4 miles, Brown said “he certainly finished well enough at a mile and three-sixteenths in the Pegasus, I don’t see it being an issue.”
Digital Age, who won Saturday’s American Turf at Churchill Downs to improve to 3 for 3, will make his next start in the Grade 3, $200,000 Pennine Ridge at Belmont on June 1, Brown said.
