A veteran of 22 years in the saddle, former jockey David Brown has made an immediate impact as a trainer since shipping his string of 20 Quarter Horses to Canterbury Park. Brown saddled four winners from his first five starters at the meeting, including the impressive track-record performance by Whirling Cleat in the Skip Zimmerman Memorial Stakes this month. \n* Following another successful renewal of the "Canterbury College" handicapper education course over the winter months, media relations and player development director Jeff Maday, with the assistance of owner Barry Butzow, formed a racing partnership that would allow new racing fans to buy a share in a Thoroughbred for $250. Enlisting trainer Tammy Domenosky, the partnership secured the 3-year old Illinois-bred filly Tahitian Queen, who now has a group of 61 enthusiastic owners.\nTahitian Queen's first career win came on opening night of the meet for the new group and was followed with another impressive effort two weeks later. The ins and outs of campaigning a Thoroughbred are covered in great detail on a weblog written for Tahitian Queen's many fans, and can be found at www.tahitianqueen.blogspot.com.
