Brother Derek arrives at Churchill

Likely Kentucky Derby favorite Brother Derek arrived at Churchill Downs at noon Thursday after a morning flight from the West Coast.

The 3 1/2 hour flight appeared to take little out of him. He carried his weight well and his coat glistened in the midday sun. Winner of the Santa Anita Derby in his final Derby tune-up, he grazed for approximately 10 minutes after his arrival, and then settled into what will become his home at Churchill Downs - barn 42.

J. J. Graci, media agent for trainer Dan Hendricks, said Brother Derek would train Friday morning shortly before or after the track renovation break, which typically lasts from 8:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
