Brooklynsway sharp for stretch-out in Fury
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Brooklynsway will continue along the road to the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks when she faces seven other Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies in Sunday’s $150,000 Fury Stakes over seven furlongs on Woodbine’s Polytrack. The Fury serves as a key prep for the June 14 Woodbine Oaks.
Brooklynsway comes into the Fury off a game second-place finish in the Star Shoot Stakes on April 12, when she rallied from off the pace along the inside, only to be caught at the wire by Ancient Goddess. Trainer John Ross said he was pleased with Brooklynsway’s effort.
“She ran a really nice race,” he said. “She sat off of the pace and really had a nice kick down the lane. She just missed it by a nose, and the way she’s come out of it, she thinks she won it. She galloped out well, and that’s what I was really happy about.”
Emma-Jayne Wilson will retain the mount on Brooklynsway and appears to have had other options in this race. Wilson has been aboard for each of Brooklynsway’s seven career starts.
“Emma really knows her well,” Ross said. “She’s done a great job with her. Other than a fourth with the boys [in last year’s Coronation Futurity], she’s the kind of filly everybody would like to own because she’s right there. She’s never run in a maiden race or a condition race, it’s been all stakes races right from Day 1.”

KEY CONTENDERS
Brooklynsway (Last 3 Beyers: 70-70-75)
◗ Brooklynsway should appreciate the stretch-out to seven furlongs. While she’s at her best around two turns, she did win the Muskoka Stakes over 6 1/2 furlongs on Polytrack here last August.
◗ Expect a similar off-the-pace trip like she had in the Star Shoot, and there likely will be plenty of speed for her to chase.
London Tower (Last 3 Beyers: 75-72-79)
◗ London Tower was a dominant 7 3/4-length winner in gate-to-wire fashion at this distance in her career debut back in October against Ontario-sired maidens. She should be involved in the early pace.
◗ With Wilson sticking with Brooklynsway, London Tower inherits the services of the meet’s leading rider, Alan Garcia, who has won with 31 percent of his mounts thus far.
Shez a Masterpiece (Last 3 Beyers: 75-73-72)
◗ Shez a Masterpiece finished third in the Coronation Futurity last October and should have some foundation underneath her as she began prepping for this event in Florida in March.
◗ She finished third behind Glorious Song Stakes winner Mississippi Delta in a maiden special weight over 6 1/2 furlongs here last September, earning a 72 Beyer.
Green Doctor (Last 3 Beyers: 72-61-40)
◗ Green Doctor defeated two other Fury rivals in the Fanfreluche Stakes over six furlongs in her last start Oct. 26, dueling through quick early fractions and clearing the rest of the field.
◗ She was on the lead or within a half-length of the lead in each of her six career starts and projects to be on or near the lead again.
