Brooke Magic has no trouble with Glen Todd Fantasy
Brooke Magic had an easy trip in winning the $75,000 Glen Todd Fantasy for fillies at Hastings Racecourse on Saturday.
The Glen Todd Fantasy, for 2-year-olds, was one of the two final stakes races of the Hastings season. The $75,000 Glen Todd Ascot was for 2-year-olds of either sex. Both were run at 1 1/16 miles.
Brooke Magic took a cozy position inside for much of the way. The Mel Snow trainee lacked room on the final bend, only to see front-runner Viva La Diva bear out a little bit into the stretch and that opened a giant pathway through which Brooke Magic scooted on the way to a 2 3/4-length score.

Brooke Magic was making just her second career start. Brian Boodramsingh was aboard the winner for owners Don and Sue Danard. Brooke Magic covered the 1 1/16 miles in 1:45.76 over a wet-fast course that had been sealed and paid $14.40 to win.
Favorite Lizzie's Rayne checked in second after stalking the early pace and just getting past front-runner Viva La Diva by a head at the end.
The Glen Todd Ascot was taken by wagering favorite August Rain, who raced mid-pack and outside in the clear for much of the way before wearing down the leaders near the quarter pole and then drawing away to a 2 1/2-length score for Peter Redekop B.C. Ltd and trainer Barbara Heads.
Amadeo Perez piloted the winner, who covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.40. Vector raced nearest the winner for much of the way and ended up second while 4 lengths in front of Diocles, who came from last to get third in the group of seven.
