Perennial leading New York breeders Chester and Mary Broman were represented by two winners they bred and sold on Friday’s card at Saratoga, with Fingal’s Cave and Acoustic Ave both descended from a program foundation mare, Seeking the Ante. The exciting Fingal’s Cave remained unbeaten in three starts with a 3 3/4-length allowance victory for Alifyfe Racing, which purchased her for $75,000 out of last year’s Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co.’s spring sale of 2-year-olds in training from Sequel, as agent for the Bromans. The Carpe Diem filly, who is likely bound for stakes company following this victory, is out of the Mineshaft mare Barbie On a Budget, a winning daughter of Seeking the Ante. Later on the card, Acoustic Ave, a Maclean’s Music colt purchased for $200,000 by Reeves Thoroughbred Racing at this year’s OBS April sale, was a 7 1/4-length debut winner. The colt is out of the winning Street Boss mare Rock Ave. Road, out of Seeking the Ante’s stakes-winning daughter Mineralogist. Seeking the Ante, by Seeking the Gold, was produced by multiple Grade 1 winner Antespend, who the Bromans purchased in 1997. Seeking the Ante, foaled in 2002 in New York, was a Grade 2 winner before retiring to broodmare duty for the Bromans. In addition to stakes winner Mineralogist, the dam of stakes winner Can You Diggit, she is the dam of stakes-placed Risk a Chance, who in turn produced Un Ojo, winner of this year’s Grade 2 Rebel Stakes. Another winning daughter of Seeking the Ante, G Note, is the dam of a Bernardini colt who sold for a record-shattering $3.55 million at this year’s Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale. :: DRF Bets members get FREE DRF Past Performances - Formulator or Classic.
