Broberg has nice combo for Bob Bryant Stakes

The rematch is on Friday night at Prairie Meadows and in the Karl Broberg barn.
The Broberg-trained It’s the Swede beat the Broberg-trained Who’s Smokin on May 20 in the Mamie Eisenhower Stakes, and those are the two most likely winners Friday night in the $63,000 Bob Bryant, yet another Iowa-bred sprint stakes for 3-year-old fillies.
To be fair, the two hardly look like equals since It’s the Swede won the Eisenhower by two lengths. Moreover, that was a spot in which she looked vulnerable, a front-runner drawn on the rail with speed to her outside. It’s the Swede even gave her rivals a fighting chance by stumbling at the start, but she quickly recovered, made the lead, set a solid pace, and never really was challenged.
On Friday, It’s the Swede has a better draw outside in post 8, and if there’s another filly who can run with her early in the Bryant, she’s not showing up in the past performances. It’s the Swede is 2-1 on the morning line but could be long gone at half that price.
Who’s Smokin needs pace help she’s unlikely to get to beat It’s the Swede but could easily round out a chalky exacta.
The entrant of at least minor note who didn’t races in the Eisenhower is Mywomanfromtokyo, who was second against older, open, first-level allowance horses at Prairie Meadows last out. She’s gotten limited chances in Iowa-bred competition, but she’s the one with the rail draw on Friday night, and Mywomanfromtokyo, like all the other fillies in the field, could spend a little more than a minute watching the hindquarters of It’s the Swede.
