Broadway Run rerouted to License Fee; Heavenly Score retired

ELMONT, N.Y. – Trainer John Terranova was hoping to run Heavenly Score in the $125,000 License Fee Stakes and Broadway Run in a second-level allowance on Sunday at Belmont Park. But Heavenly Score got injured, and the allowance didn’t fill, so Broadway Run will represent Terranova and Curragh Stables in the License Fee, a six-furlong turf stakes for fillies and mares.
Broadway Run was one of seven entered in the License Fee. She will be making her first start since losing by a neck in a dirt stakes at Tampa Bay Downs in December.
“I think I got her pretty tight. She’s ready to fire. The break was by design,” Terranova said.
Broadway Run has a win and two seconds from three starts at Belmont.
Others entered were Mrs. Ramona G., Goldwood, Misericordia, Fear No Evil, Fire Key, and Albertville.
Meanwhile, Terranova said Heavenly Score will be retired and bred after injuring an ankle in a workout here Monday.
Heavenly Score, a 5-year-old daughter of Even the Score, won the Minaret Stakes on dirt at Tampa in February. Last year, she was beaten just a neck in the Intercontinental Stakes on turf here in June. Heavenly Score retires with a record of 5-2-3 from 15 starts and earnings of $297,150.
