Jockey Shaun Bridgmohan is out of action after fracturing his collarbone during racing Tuesday at Fair Grounds. Bridgmohan was unseated from the filly Oxford Comma between the three-sixteenths and one-eighth poles of the Fair Grounds homestretch during the running of the Mardi Gras Stakes, a turf sprint. Bridgmohan’s mount broke down catastrophically in her left front leg, and while the stricken filly managed to stay on her feet, Bridgmohan lost his seat and came out of the saddle. Bridgmohan got to his feet but later said in a text message he was going to be examined at a nearby hospital, where the clavicle injury was diagnosed. The injury will keep Bridgmohan from riding the rest of the Fair Grounds meeting, at which he has won 45 races. Bridgmohan was leading rider during the 2017-18 Fair Grounds season.
