Bridgehampton scores front-running win in My Juliet

The big jump from a first-level allowance to a Grade 2 stakes was too difficult for Bridgehampton, but the 4-year-old New York-based filly rebounded nicely when she shipped to Parx Racing for Saturday’s $75,000 My Juliet Stakes for female sprinters.
Sent to the front by jockey Frankie Pennington, Bridgehampton ($5.40) clicked off fractions of 22.56 and 44.68 seconds, repelled a mild challenge from slight favorite Miss d’Oro with a furlong remaining, and drew off to score her first stakes victory by 5 1/4 lengths. She completed six furlongs in 1:10 flat.
Ms. Cruisen, a 20-1 outsider, rallied to get second, three-quarters of a length in front of Miss d’Oro, who had finished seven lengths ahead of Bridgehampton last month in New York.
As a 3-year-old last year, Bridgehampton came out of a maiden victory to miss by three-quarters of a length in the Grade 3 Victory Ride at Belmont Park. She did not race again for nearly nine months, returning to clear her first allowance condition at Aqueduct before fading to last of seven in the Grade 2 Distaff Handicap last month.
In winning for the third time in six career starts for trainer Mike Hushion and owner Barry Schwartz, Bridgehampton, a daughter of Bernardini, raised her bankroll to $155,904.
