Bridal Gal wins New Braunfels

Bridal Gal became a stakes winner Saturday night at Retama Park when she rallied for a 2 1/4 length win over favorite Shannons Valentine in the $40,000 New Braunfels. It was another three quarters of a length back in third to Aclevershadeofjade.

Bridal Gal ($7.60) was content to sit off the pace in the New Braunfels, as Seneca Song ran the opening quarter of the six furlong race for fillies and mares in 22.41 seconds. Shannons Valentine took over after a half-mile in 45.62 seconds, but could not hold off the stretch bid of Bridal Gal, who went on to cover the distance in 1:10.73.

Larry Taylor rode the winner for trainer Mark Whitton.

Bridal Gal has now won 8 of 35 starts and $148,073. She races for Gary Hunt.
