Brickyard Ride will stretch speed in next race

ARCADIA, Calif. – Brickyard Ride came out of his front-running comeback victory in the six-furlong California Cup Sprint at Santa Anita in top shape, he went back to the track on Wednesday, and will stretch out in distance for his next start.
Trainer Craig Lewis plans to start Brickyard Ride in either the $100,000 Tiznow Stakes, a two-turn mile for Cal-breds on Feb. 21, or the Grade 2 San Carlos Stakes, a seven-furlong sprint on March 5.

Owned by breeder Sonny Pais, Brickyard Ride returned Jan. 14 from a layoff of more than four months to score his second straight victory in the Cal Cup Sprint. Juan Hernandez rode Brickyard Ride to the 101-Beyer win.
A 5-year-old by Clubhouse Ride, Brickyard Ride has won nine races and $560,977 from 19 starts. The two-turn Tiznow would be his first dirt route. In his only route, an allowance turf mile two years ago in his third start, Brickyard Ride ducked in and lost his rider in the stretch.
A factor likely to influence the race decision – Tiznow or San Carlos – is opposition. The San Carlos is a possible next start for Flightline.
